About ING Corporate PKI
Public Key Infrastructure brings you an electronic mechanism in order to provide:
- Authenticity: Is the other party really who he claims to be?
- Confidentiality: Are there no other parties able to read the content of the transaction or the document?
- Integrity: Has the content of the transaction or document not been altered?
- Non-repudiation: Can neither party later deny the execution of the transaction or the content of the document?
PKI is a security tool that can be used on top of a variety of applications, from electronic mail to online transactions. The ING infrastructure works with both smart cards and softcertificates, depending on the applications’ requirements.
ING offers a single corporate implementation of PKI: once you receive your PKI certificate for an application of an ING Business Unit, this certificate can also be used for every other ING Business Unit.
